Mission

The mission of LBA is to prepare the next generation of professionals via workshops, guest speakers, major professional events, and collaborations with local and national organizations, coupled with a strong sense of community through volunteering, collaborations with other campus organizations, and social gatherings. As a chapter of the United Latino Students Association, we help promote and enhance an extensive network of students and future entrepreneurs to ensure their success post-graduation.

The vision of the Latinx Business Association is to be a hub of innovation, entrepreneurship, and professionalism in the greater Santa Barbara Area and beyond, with a strong emphasis on having a strong community for students and graduates to create a strong network of professionals, academics, and employees that can provide support to future generations.

Our History

Always Upwards

In 1983, the Latino Business Association was formed by a group of students to be a chapter of the Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Focused on developing marketable skills and securing local internships, LBA began to secure partnerships via grassroots fundraising with mom & pop shops in Santa Barbara.

As the scope of the organization expanded, LBA became a "home away from home" for many of us on campus. When the COVID-19 pandemic stopped the world, LBA renamed to the Latinx Business Association, and continues seeing success with local giants such as the Greater Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and SCORE.
