Virginia Marroquin
Class of 2012
President (2011-2012)
ULS Representative (2010-2011)
ULS Representative (2009-2010)
Currently I’m helping run the family business, Lemo Visa Inc. Transportation Services. Learning the ins and outs of our family business thus far has been an amazing experience! I’ve learned a lot about managing a business and how to be a successful employer. It’s not as easy as it sounds.
Aside from the family business I’m also attending school to become a certified tax preparer, I attend a variety of workshops to continue personal and professional development, as well as, facilitate a variety of workshops on professional development for different ULS chapters (United Latino Students, the umbrella organization LBA falls under).
LBA has helped me in many ways. It helped me further develop my leadership, management, and networking skills. Not only did it help me develop professionally but it also provided a family away from home. Some of my dearest and closes friendships were made through this wonderful organization. I highly recommend that everyone takes advantage of all the great opportunities that LBA and ULS offers you. I promise I’m not being bias.
Lastly, I leave you with these words-your time at UCSB will flash by. One day I was being welcomed to USCB by Chancellor Yang and the next thing you know I was shaking his hand at graduation. So please take advantage of all the great opportunities and resources UCSB has to offer, enjoy your time in college but never forget why you are there, and take as many risk as you can because just like T.S. Eliot said, "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go."
